Second Stage Performances Expanded in 2011-2012 Theatre Season

This year's second stage season has been expanded and included in the subscription series. For instance, the 24-Hour Theatre Project is an exciting, new event that is a highlight of the fall for many students in Firestone’s successful arts program.  It is joined by the first annual Akron High School Film Festival and the formation of an all-new improvisation troupe comprised of students in Firestone’s nationally recognized theatre program. These performances along with the always popular One-Act Play Festival make up the Second State theatre season.

The 24-Hour Theatre Project will be held at the school at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011. This single performance will culminate a whirlwind or activity that includes the creation and writing of five one-act plays as well as their staging and rehearsal in a single 24-hour period of time. One Night of Improv will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011. This event features our newly formed improvisation troupe under the direction of Cleveland actor/director Marc Moritz. A second performance of the improvisational troupe will be scheduled in the spring. The always popular One-Act Play Festival will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2012. The first annual Akron High School Film Festival will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2012. This event will feature short films created by students from a variety of Akron schools. Submissions for this event are due no later than February 10, 2012. Complete rules and submission forms are available for download at www.FirestoneTheatre.com.

General admission tickets for each of these events cost $5.00 and will available only at the door. Each show is included in the season subscription.
